Leather goods boutique to open this month in Mercantile on Morris – AL.com

Hide & Hunter is a handcrafted and upcycled leather goods boutique opening this month in Mercantile on Morris.
A leather goods boutique is planning to open this month in Birmingham’s Mercantile on Morris.
Hannah Christine’s Hide & Hunter will welcome customers to its 586 square foot space in the plaza Oct. 8.
The store, which will be the brand’s first brick-and-mortar location, offers products mixing animal hides and fabrics, inspired by the idea of “nature experienced through travel.”
“Just like you and I, we are all unique, and through time we develop our character and personality— the same goes with our product,” Christine said. “As you include our product in your daily routine, it develops its own patina and personality that is completely unique to you and your life.”
Hide & Hunter also donates 10% of every purchase to organizations that rescue individuals from human trafficking, provide medical relief in the Middle East, create curriculum for couples who are experiencing infertility or child loss, support individual families who have experienced hardship, and many more. To date, the brand says it has donated thousands of dollars.

Work began in 2019 on Mercantile on Morris, an adaptive reuse project which includes a pedestrian plaza, residential condos and restaurant and retail space. The plan called for 49 residential condos with micro, one-bedroom and two-bedroom options ranging from 281 to 961 square feet. Shops began opening this year.
Christine says she plans on making her space available for events and small group workshops.
“I am so excited, but of course with any new venture, there is an equal dose of nervousness as well,” Christine said. “We believe this shop will be a huge success, because it will not only be a space to shop, but a space used to bring people together.”
More information about the opening will be available on Hide & Hunter’s Instagram page: @hideandhunter.
Mercantile on Morris residential units are complete and only finishing touches remain for the commercial plaza.
