The Marvel Universe is a vast and expansive place, with characters of all shapes and sizes. With so many powerful aliens in the Earth-616 universe, it is hard to create a concrete list, with so many heavy hitters taking up the cosmos.

While many humans from the Marvel Universe have come up against many of these aliens, and though they have bested them on some occasions, that still is no indicator that these humans have a higher level of intelligence than these aliens. Many of these beings have been around for millennia, even universes before, with the current 616 universe being the eighth iteration of the universe.
S.W.O.R.D, a division of S.H.I.E.L.D known as Sentient World Observation and Response Department, is tasked with monitoring extraterrestrial activity on and around Earth, in order to counteract possible threats before they arrive planetside. A key member of the S.W.O.R.D team is Sydren, an alien from the planet Drenx an incredibly powerful telepathic mind, Sydren is the brains of S.W.O.R.D.
As S.W.O.R.D’s resident telepath, Sydren makes sure the entire division is on the same page, and is able to telepathically interface different people together, making it much easier for the different planetary species that the division deals with on a regular basis.
One of the most feared beings in the whole galaxy, the Mad Titan Thanos is known not only for his incredible strength and determination, but for his cunning and intelligence as well. Having embarked on countless schemes to conquer the galaxy, Thanos is a master strategist and is calculated in his plans for domination.
Having plotted many times to bring the universe to its knees, whether to appease the entity of Death, or simply out of his own will, Thanos has shown on many occasions his incredible intelligence. Having thwarted some of the greatest minds in the galaxy, Thanos’ intelligence has sometimes been called into question, for his motivations seem to only make sense to Thanos himself.
Created by the alien Kree almost a million years ago, the Supreme Intelligence is the smartest creature in the entire Kree Empire. Created from the intellect of the greatest minds in Kree history, the Supreme Intelligence grew to have a mind of its own, and began taking control of the Kree planet. The Supreme Intelligence eventually replaced the Kree government, and its word is seen as law.
While the Supreme Intelligence is seen as the smartest being in the Kree Empire, it has been shown at times to become jaded, ambitious, and sometimes downright malevolent. Responsible for the creation of the Inhumans, the Kree-Skrull War, and the bond between Rick Jones and Captain Marvel through the Nega-Bands, it’s very clear that the Supreme Intelligence is only looking out for the Kree’s benefit.
Said to be the first beings created in the universe, the Celestials are as old as they are wise. Created by the sentient universe, the Celestials have immeasurable cosmic power that seems to have no limit. They are seen as omnipotent beings and are said to be responsible for the Multiverse itself, and stand at the top of the food chain in terms of cosmic beings in the Marvel Universe.

It is said that it was the Celestials who shaped the cosmos in order to create life throughout the universe and are virtually indestructible, on top of the fact that they can almost always be resurrected. Their means of communication amongst each other is undecipherable to humans, so their level of intelligence isn’t able to be properly understood by regular beings.
One of the most iconic characters in the Marvel Universe, Galactus is known as the Devourer of Worlds, while not much credit is given to his actual intelligence. First a space explorer and the sole survivor of the sixth incarnation of the universe, the being known as Galan merged with the sentient universe to become Galactus, with a constant hunger forcing him to feast on the energy of uninhabited planets.
Some may see Galactus as a moving mountain, his manipulation of the Power Cosmic grants him a great number of resources at his disposal. As one of the oldest living beings in the whole universe, Galactus possesses an infinite amount of knowledge, which he has harnessed over millennia, with even Reed Richards having claimed to be unable to understand even the most basic devices found on Galactus’ starship.
One of the most loyal members of the New Mutants is Warlock, a Technarch who left his homeworld out of fear of his father, the Technarch known as Magus. Technarchs are offshoots of the Phalanx, an alien race of techno-organic aliens that were captured by the Kree Empire to use against their enemies. The most powerful Technarch on the planet, the Magus is seen as the ruler of the other Technarchs.

The Magus is incredibly intelligent and adapting, and as a metamorph is able to change its form into anything that is organic or mechanical. The Magus also contains power over the techno-organic virus, which can turn sentient living beings into technic-organic beings, which the Magus can then absorb into itself.
One of the oldest beings in the galaxy, Uatu the Watcher is a member of an elder alien race that has chosen a path of non-interference, preferring instead to travel the universe, watching and documenting important events across the timeline. Deciding it was their duty to help advance lesser races across the galaxy, the Watchers took a stance against interfering with other races after their attempts to help a race of aliens almost resulted in nuclear warfare.
Uatu is assigned to watch over Earth, where he has taken a great interest in the goings-on of the planet and its heroes, having predicted the coming age of heroes of the 20th century and tipping Reed Richards, Hank Pym, and Bruce Banner as being integral to its success. Uatu has a great grasp of Earth’s history, having seen a large amount of it unfold, and uses this knowledge to predict trends in the Marvel Universe.
A race of nearly omnipotent aliens, the Beyonders basically exist outside of the Marvel multiverse, and basically use the rest of the universe as their experimental fodder. Able to exist outside of the multiverse, the Beyonders simply see the rest of the Marvel universe as research, which led to their roles in the 2015 Time Runs Out event, which would lead to Secret Wars.
The Beyonders created the Molecule Man, a classic villain of the Fantastic Four, but embued with the power to change the molecular structure of anything, making him one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel Universe. The Beyonders were finally met with resistance when Doctor Doom managed to draw them out of their home dimension, detonating a bomb that not only killed the Beyonders, but also reduced the number of alternate realities in the multiverse.
Thanos’ Black Order is feared across the galaxy, and while the Black Order is steeped with brawn and power, the alien Ebony Maw offers a cutting edge in the form of cunning, strategy, and manipulation. After being brought on by Thanos to serve as one of his servants, Maw used his extreme intelligence to try and manipulate others around him in order to better his own standing with the Mad Titan. Maw became one of the first members of the Black Order, and soon became Thanos’ premier advisor.

Ebony Maw’s true intelligence was shown during the Infinity event, where he successfully manipulated a number of high-ranking characters in the Marvel Universe, including Doctor Strange and Thanos himself. Maw began to manipulate Thanos’ son, Thane, in order to turn him into a force that could best his own father.
The Builders are said to be the universe’s oldest race. In order to create and control different systems in the universe, the Builders gave life to different races of aliens. After marking Earth as a “failure,” the Builders made it a priority to destroy the planet, including any other planets that stood in their way.
The Builders have an incredible influence on the universe, working to decide what species would benefit the evolution of their galaxy. When Earth was marked as unable to properly experience an incursion, the Builders realized that the planet could be responsible for the end of the whole universe. The Builders, while also being incredibly intelligent, have a superior ability to control the genetic code of sentient life.
