LCU's Business as a Calling features Amarillo mayor –

The Lubbock Christian University School of Business and Center for Faith and Business will host Business as a Calling, on Wednesday, Oct. 20, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the University’s Baker Conference Center.
Area business professionals are encouraged to take part in the lunch and conversation with Amarillo mayor and business professional Ginger Nelson, according to a news release from the school.
Nelson, a graduate of Texas Tech University where she received undergrad degrees in Spanish and advertising, as well as her law degree, is currently in her third term serving as Amarillo’s 33rd mayor. In addition to her role as mayor, Nelson has served the Amarillo community in various leadership roles, including chair of the Amarillo Economic Development Board, president of the Amarillo Area Young Lawyers Association and Chair of the Amarillo Symphony Ball.
“I strongly believe that Business as a Calling is one of the best events of the year in our community,” said Matt Bumstead, dean of LCU’s School of Business. “This year’s luncheon will offer attendees the chance to meet and hear from Mayor Ginger Nelson, a person for whom I have developed the highest respect, admiration, and personal regard. I can say with confidence that this opportunity will undoubtedly leave all those present energized and encouraged.
Those who know Nelson and serve beside her in the community of Amarillo say she is a “deeply devoted follower of Jesus Christ,” “a person of the highest character,” “an exemplary leader,” and “an individual of rare talent and grace,” the news release states.
“This event provides its audience an enriching and rewarding experience every year,” Bumstead said in the release. “The message speaks both to those who have never before considered how faith and business can travel hand-in-hand and to those who have passionately pursued business as a calling for years.”
