REPORT: Secret Invasion Features a Skrull With Major X-Men Ties – CBR – Comic Book Resources

A new report claims Love/Hate actor Killian Scott will play a mutant Skrull with X-Men ties on the upcoming Disney+ series Secret Invasion.
A new report indicates a mutant Skrull will be coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Secret Invasion.
Back in April, word emerged that Killian Scott, known for Love/Hate and Dublin Murders, had joined the Disney+ series. At the time, his role was under wraps, but a report from The Direct claims the actor will play Fiz, a mutant Skrull with the ability to change his size. What’s more, but the character has deep connections to Professor X in the comics.

While all Skrulls can shape-shift, Fiz is part of a group of mutants within the race who have extra abilities. Created by Alan Davis and Tom Raney, Fiz debuted in 1999’s X-Men #95. Like other mutant Skrulls, Fiz was rejected by his people. He’d head to Earth and link up with Professor X and Bishop, eventually helping them fight Apocalypse.
All told, Fiz is a relatively minor character, and those he has interacted with have yet to appear in the MCU. Given all that information, it’s likely Fiz will be one of many characters who join the MCU in little more than name, unless, of course, the X-Men debut ahead of Secret Invasion. But seeing as the Skrulls themselves were already altered to be less villainous in the MCU, it’s hard to imagine Scott playing an Apocalypse-fighting Skrull on the streaming show.
For now, the plot of Secret Invasion is every bit as mysterious as the comic book Skrulls. With the alien race working alongside Nick Fury, as seen during the credits scene in Spider-Man: Far From Home, it’s not clear how much of the comic book story involving the Skrulls secretly replacing various heroes on Earth will come to the MCU.

Aside from Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn reprising their respective roles as Nick Fury and Talos, the other characters set to appear haven’t been announced. But the cast for the show is steadily growing. Emilia Clarke, Olivia Colman, Christopher McDonald, and Carmen Ejogo have all joined the cast in undisclosed roles. But the show is rumored to lean heavily into the spy side of the MCU, so S.H.I.E.L.D. and Skrulls will likely make up the bulk of the characters.
Secret Invasion is currently filming but does not yet have a release date on Disney+.
