Jujutsu Kaisen: 5 Comic Book Characters Gojo Could Defeat (And 5 Who Lose To) – CBR – Comic Book Resources

As one of the strongest sorcerers in Jujutsu Kaisen, Gojo would be a challenge for many comic book characters.
With the release of hit anime Jujutsu Kaisen, Satoru Gojo has become the most recent proof that a character doesn’t have to be a protagonist to acquire an army of fans. Displaying a unique combination of arrogance, irreverence, and good intentions, Gojo often steals the show. He draws the eye so much, the author is often forced to write him out of a scene so that the younger cast can shine and grow. Gojo’s popularity is in no small part due to his amazing powers. Gifted with an immense amount of cursed energy, he has inherited the Limitless technique from his family.

The first sorcerer in hundreds of years born with the rare jujutsu Six Eyes, Gojo is able to maximize the potential of Limitless, channeling it into devastating moves. In its neutral state, he holds an infinity of space between himself and others. Attackers, on the other hand, find themselves facing a nasty surprise when Gojo targets them with his other techniques. His Hollow Purple alone can obliterate everything in its path. As one of the strongest sorcerers in Jujutsu Kaisen, Gojo would be a challenge for many comic book characters.
The world’s greatest detective in DC Comics, Batman is so well-known he has practically become a social phenomenon. Batman’s popularity may be in part caused by his numerous media adaptations. From the somewhat campy 1966 Adam West version to the far more famous Dark Knight, portrayed by Christian Bale in Cristopher Nolan’s widely acclaimed trilogy, Bruce Wayne’s character has always drawn attention.

Batman may not have any superpowers, but he uses various gadgets like his grappling hook and his batarangs to compensate. His genius intellect and martial arts training have helped him bring down opponents far stronger than he is. He’s notable for making plans to target his allies according to their own individual vulnerabilities. Sadly, Gojo’s only real weak point is his arrogance. Batman’s sole chance would be finding a cursed object that could contain Gojo, but unlike the cursed spirits of Jujutsu Kaisen, he wouldn’t really be able to take Gojo by surprise. Batman would end up defeated.
Originally a nuclear physicist, Jonathan Osterman is caught in a radioactive particle test and torn to pieces. Jonathan eventually reforms, except this time, as a god-like being that will eventually become known as Doctor Manhattan. Invulnerable to all harm, he is almost omniscient, perceiving time in a non-linear fashion and aware of both past, present, and future.
Doctor Manhattan is able to travel to other dimensions at will, or even through time. Other abilities he has displayed include flight, telekinesis, elemental control, and energy projection. His power is so great that he can create and destroy universes at will. All of Gojo’s skills would be helpless against a character that already symbolizes infinity.
Since his creation in the 1940s, Joker has been a sadistic psychopath, but also a mischievous prankster. Much like his nemesis, Batman, the supervillain has no inherent supernatural abilities. The Joker commits his crimes through weaponized props, like exploding cigars, razor-tipped playing cards, and a lethal joy buzzer.
A genius at chemistry, Joker has created a toxic gas that makes people laugh until they die. Gojo has a sense of humor himself, and he has displayed sadistic tendencies on occasion. Precisely because of that, he would probably consider the Joker’s efforts just that – a bad joke – and destroy him with ease.
Known to comic book fans from series like Teen Titans or the most recent TV drama Titans, the demon Trigon is the father of the heroine Raven. As the embodiment of evil and destruction, Trigon is a being of incommensurable power who has already taken over hundreds of worlds. Immortal and indestructible, he has absorbed evil from over one hundred galaxies and can manipulate matter at a molecular level. While Gojo may be immune to some of his power, his access to interdimensional travel may give him the edge he needs.
Captain America is one of the most beloved characters in Marvel. His enhanced speed, strength, and intellect have allowed him to take on countless opponents, and his unique fighting style – relying on his shield – has even made him a match for Iron Man.
While Captain America may be able to hold his own against his fellow Avenger, it seems unlikely that he’d be able to do the same with Gojo. His physical strength would simply be absorbed by Infinity and Gojo’s jujutsu techniques are more than a match for those of the First Avenger. Steve would lose miserably.
Familiar to audiences from the Infinity Saga in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Mad Titan Thanos goes on a rampage through the universe in an attempt to win Death’s favor. His alien biology grants him immortality, immense durability, and psionic powers, and that alone makes him a threat. After Thanos collects the Infinity Gems, he gains absolute control of all aspects of time, space, power, reality, mind, and soul.
Thanos is able to take on all the universe’s heroes, and he is so dangerous that even the Great Powers of the Universe – Death herself included – are unable to take him out. Gojo may be a powerful sorcerer, but his cursed techniques wouldn’t make a difference either.
As a member of the X-Force and the X-Men, Wolverine has survived countless near-death experiences. His main mutation – his advanced healing factor – has helped him heal from numerous traumatic injuries , at the same time slowing down his aging process. Even the most powerful healing factor in the world wouldn’t help Wolverine if he were hit by a Hollow Purple, however. Wolverine would be obliterated on the spot, and even his adamantium skeleton wouldn’t survive.
An Omega-level mutant, Jean Grey is by birth one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel universe. While her telekinesis may prove to be ineffective against Gojo, the same thing cannot be said about her telepathy. Just her ability to manipulate the mind of others would make Gojo vulnerable to her, as his powers can’t protect him from a telepathic attack.

Jean is also strongly associated with the Phoenix Force, a cosmic entity that represents life that hasn’t been born. As the Phoenix, she is capable of immense feats of power, to the point of manipulating everything in existence. During her stint as the Dark Phoenix, she devours a star and kills billions of people as a result. One sorcerer, no matter how powerful, could never fight her off.
In Marvel Comics, Mystique has a long history of villainous actions. Her interpretation in the X-Men movies has been somewhat more complex, but the two versions of the character do have something in common. They wouldn’t be able to do a thing against Gojo.
Mystique’s shape-shifting may allow her to get close to Gojo and fool him – which has proven to be dangerous to the sorcerer in the past – but her other skills, while remarkable, wouldn’t be enough. Without any other kind of weapon, he would destroy her.
One of the most powerful characters currently in the MCU, Captain Marvel is just as remarkable in the comics, if not more so. Carol Danvers is a human/Kree hybrid, and her enhanced speed, strength, durability, and stamina are complemented by her ability to manipulate energy and matter at a molecular level. Captain Marvel would be a terrifying opponent for Gojo, and it’s very possible that she could just absorb the devastating energies the emits. Even with Six Eyes in his arsenal, Gojo would be at a disadvantage.
