Narcos: Mexico season 3 sees the drug war escalate as Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo’s empire splinters. Who are the new players in the game?
Narcos: Mexico’s Diego Luna won’t be reprising his role as Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo in season 3, but there are several new characters joining the bloody crime drama. Narcos: Mexico season 2 ended with Gallardo, also known as El Jefe de Jefes, going to jail. In Narcos: Mexico season 3, the once united Guadalajara Cartel, also known as La Federación, has been divided into smaller fiefdoms under Felix’s former lieutenants.
These are the beginnings of the Sinaloa, Juarez, and Tijuana cartels. Apart from Narcos: Mexico’s new cast members, many characters from seasons 1 and 2 will be reprising their roles. In season 3, the power dynamics between these returning characters undergo rapid changes.

Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo’s incarceration in Narcos: Mexico season 2 leaves behind a massive power vacuum. Amid the resulting chaos and violence, both new and returning cast members are grabbing opportunities, resolving vendettas, and fixing problems caused by the splintering of Felix’s drug empire. In Narcos: Mexico season 3, the drug war escalates, with the following characters being the key players.
While DEA agent Walt Breslin was the narrator in Narcos: Mexico’s previous seasons, La Voz de Tijuana journalist Andrea Nunez takes over narration duties in season 3. Andrea’s devotion to the truth puts her dangerously close to the line of fire. Actor Luisa Rubino is known for playing Claudia in Fugitiva, as well as appearing in La Rosa de Guadalupe and Como Dice El Dicho.
Carlos Hank Gonzalez is a career politician and PRI power broker who’s bringing his business to Juarez. Carlos cuts a deal with Amado. Manuel Uriza who plays Carlos is a prolific actor who also appears in Rambo: Last Blood, The Last Ship, and Better Call Saul.
In the opening scene of Narcos: Mexico season 3, Heneral Rebollo catches Amado and burns his cocaine and money. Rebollo takes charge of the Mexican state’s anti-narco operations after violence between the Tijuana and Sinaloa cartels escalate. Actor Jose Zuniga is well-known for his roles in The Expanse, Madam Secretary, and Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD.

Independent narcotraficano Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada has no allegiance to any particular cartel. Instead, El Mayo uses his fishing business to move cocaine and other goods into Tijuana. Best known for appearing in Telemundo’s Vale Todo, Alberto Guerra is also famous for his roles as Comandante Federico Benitez in Crime Diaries: The Candidate and El Chema in El Señor de los Cielos.
Juarez city police officer Victor Tapia looks for a missing teen. The brutal killings he investigates lead him down an even darker path than expected. One of Mexico’s biggest starts, Luis Gerardo Mendez also appears in Murder Mystery, Time Share, Cantinflas, and 2019’s Charlie’s Angels.
Rich-kid-turned-narco-hitman Everardo Arturo “Kitty” Paez works for the Tijuana cartel. The Arellanos let narcojuniors like Kitty play gangster in order to establish connections with their rich and influential parents. Actor Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio is also known as award-winning rapper, singer, and songwriter Bad Bunny.
Alex Hodoyan is another budding narcojunior. Although reluctant to act at first, Alex eventually takes on larger missions for the Tijuana Cartel. Actor Lorenzo Ferro also appears in El Angel, Perfidious, and El Marginal.

La Voz de Tijuana founder Ramon Salgado runs the only independent newspaper in town. Ramon guides Andrea as she works on uncovering the truth behind narco politics in Mexico. Actor Alejandro Furth also appears in Barry, Criminal Minds, The Liberator, and NBC Peacock’s Law & Order.
Vicente is the brother of Juarez boss Amado Fuentes. Amado took Vicente from Sinaloa and into the city to become his enforcer. Theatrical actor Fernando Bornilla has voiced cartoon characters such as Harold Berman in Hey Arnold! and Nelson Muntz in The Simpsons, and appears in the series Opa Popa Dupa.
Arturo Beltran Leyva is a narcotrafico who takes advantage of the chaos between the ruling cartels. Arturo heads the new Beltran-Leyva Cartel in Sinaloa. Diego Calva also appears in I Promise You Anarchy, El Recluso, and Unstoppable.
Narcos: Mexico season 3 reveals Walt Breslin’s love interest, Dani. Although Walt and Dani are devoted to one another, Walt’s work threatens to break them apart. Actor Kristen Lee Gutoskie is also known as Molly Hendricks in Richard Donner’s Lethal Weapon and Seline in The Vampire Diaries.

Scoot McNairy as Walt Breslin: DEA Agent Walt Breslin continues his work to bring down narcotraficos in Mexico. Scoot McNairy also appears in True Detective, Halt and Catch Fire, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Gone Girl, and 12 Years A Slave.
Alejandro Edda as Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán: Chapo struggles to get the Sinaloa Cartel back on top. Alejandro Edda is most famous for playing the role of Marco Rodriguez in The Walking Dead.
Noé Hernández as Rafael Aguilar Guajardo: Amado’s partner and co-founder of the Juarez Cartel, Rafael Aguilar Guajardo is also a former DFS agent. Noé Hernández is best known for his award-winning roles in films like La Tirisia, Miss Bala, Mexican Gangster: La Leyenda del Charro Misterioso, and Ocho de Cada Diez.

Alfonso Dosal as Benjamín Arellano Félix: As the boss of the Tijuana Cartel, Benjamín enjoys the fruits of his family’s hard work. Alfonso Dosal also appears in El Cartel, Para Volver a Amar, The Color of Passion, and La Mina Del Oro.
Mayra Hermosillo as Enedina Arellano Félix: Benjamín might be the boss, but Enedina is the true brains of the Tijuana Cartel. Narcos: Mexico‘s Mayra Hermosillo also appears in Walking Distance, The Romantic Barber, and En La Piel De Lucia.
Manuel Masalva as Ramón Arellano Félix: Ramón serves as the Tijuana Cartel and the Arellano Félix family’s enforcer. The talented Manuel Masalva is famous for his roles as Luis Enrique Guzman in La Guzman and Felipe in Divina, Está En Tu Corazón.
